Networks for Job Search Success

JFS SV reaches out to the Jewish community with a variety of services focused on assisting high tech and other professionals who have been impacted by the recent and ongoing layoffs in the Valley:

The Employment Network Program, a service of Project N.O.A.H., became live in March 2009 and has provided job search supports to 95 unemployed, Silicon Valley community members. Forty network participants have since located employment. [See flyer.]

The Employment Network program has consisted of job counseling that includes:

Supporting these services have been networking meetings at JFS SV offices as well as area synagogues and a Yahoo News group to broadcast leads to JFS SV members.

There have also been speakers on a variety of subjects including tips on starting a business and strategies for dealing with recruiters.

Success Teams

Employment Network activities continue in 2010 with one significant difference. We are now offering Success Teams.

Success Teams are a bit like networking groups, but smaller with 4-7 people, and requiring much more commitment. Success Teams meet weekly as closed groups and members act more like consultants to each other than the casual colleague relationships that grow out of networking groups.

Success Teams members are usually more similar in occupational backgrounds than the usual networking group. Other groups who use Success Teams report a significant reduction in the typical job period through participation in Success Teams.
