We are thrilled to announce the opening of our much-anticipated food pantry serving JFS SV clients including Holocaust Survivors, older adults, refugees and Project NOAH community clients who need emergency food support.
This food pantry is unique because it provides clients with Kosher and Halal food resources unavailable through other food programs. Food items consist of Kosher canned and boxed foods including peanut butter, canned salmon, rice, canned fruits and vegetables, crackers, salt, pepper, herbs and spices, matzah ball soup mix, spaghetti sauce and various pastas.
JFS SV has long provided food to clients on a smaller scale. Through increased federal and other funding, we were able to expand the program to clients we serve in both the Jewish and broader community.
The pantry, which is currently located in the JCC café and open Wednesdays from 11:30am – 1:30pm and 5:30pm – 7:30pm, is a pilot program for JFS SV. Our goal is to eventually expand the program to include additional locations and even provide delivery, so the program is accessible to more clients who are experiencing food insecurity.
If you are interested in volunteering for our food pantry, please contact Robin Feinman-Marino at robinf@jfssv.org. We’re also asking for reusable, paper and/or plastic grocery bags. Feel free to drop them off on Wednesdays when the pantry is open or bring them to the
JFS SV office.
