URGENT: 116 Legal Refugees Abandoned Including Afghan Allies Who Risked Their Lives for the U.S.

Last week, I shared devastating news: our refugee resettlement program was ordered to immediately cease all support for newly arrived refugees. The federal funding that made this life-saving work possible was revoked without warning.

These are not just any refugees. These are legally approved refugees, vetted and authorized by the U.S. government. Many of them are Afghan allies who risked their lives assisting the U.S. military - translators and support staff who stood with our troops—only to be abandoned now.

116 refugees arrived in Santa Clara County in December and January, expecting the support they were promised. Instead, they now face:

  • No financial assistance for food, clothing, and basic necessities

  • No rental support, leaving them at risk of immediate homelessness

  • No case management, cutting them off from medical care and food assistance

  • No help enrolling their children in school, depriving them of an education

  • No guidance in securing stable housing, leaving them stranded

These families fled war and persecution, believing the U.S. would keep its promise. Now, they have nothing.

🚨 WE NEED TO RAISE $348,000 IMMEDIATELY to provide emergency support for these refugees. 🚨

Without your urgent help, these families—who already sacrificed so much for our country—will face homelessness, hunger, and total abandonment.

For 47 years, Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley has stood by refugees. We will not turn our backs on them now.

Thank you for joining us in this life saving work!

With hope and gratitude-
